    ORA4 keeps the ORA recipe, with Class D bi-amplification, USB-C and Bluetooth 5.0, but moves to a 4-inch woofer, 70 W RMS and a response that reaches down to 60 Hz.

    ORA4 is the bigger sibling of ORA and shares the same manual. The differences are the ones that matter for bass: a 4-inch woofer instead of 3-inch, 70 W RMS instead of 50 W RMS and a frequency response that starts at 60 Hz rather than 70 Hz. Kanto describes it as a system that brings the scale and low-end extension of a larger studio monitor in a compact format.

    ORA4 is also sold as a pair: the right speaker is active, with the amplification, inputs and controls, while the left one is passive and connects through the supplied 4-pin cable. Each speaker is 12 cm wide, 17 cm deep and 21 cm tall, and Kanto recommends it for near-field listening at a desk, at least 20–25 cm from the wall.

    The tweeter and the woofer each have their own Class D amplifier channel. Kanto's manual gives 12 W RMS per tweeter and 23 W RMS per woofer, which adds up to 70 W RMS in total and 140 W peak power.

    The 3/4-inch silk dome tweeter sits in a waveguide above the magnetically shielded 4-inch woofer; the bass reflex port is on the back. Kanto speaks of a flat, balanced tuning that does not colour mixes.

    USB-C, Bluetooth, RCA and a subwoofer output

    Over USB-C, the computer sends a digital signal of up to 24 bit/96 kHz, decoded by ORA4 itself without a separate audio interface; it appears as 'ORA/ORA4 by Kanto'. Phones connect via Bluetooth 5.0, while a turntable with a phono preamp or a games console goes into the RCA input.

    When a subwoofer is plugged into SUB OUT, the active crossover engages automatically at 80 Hz, so the speakers can play louder with less distortion. The 1/4-20 threaded inserts on the back and underneath allow mounting on stands or brackets.

    Frequently asked questions

    How does it differ from ORA?

    According to the shared manual: ORA4 has a 4-inch woofer (ORA: 3-inch), 70 W RMS in total (ORA: 50 W RMS), a response from 60 Hz (ORA: 70 Hz) and a subwoofer crossover at 80 Hz (ORA: 100 Hz). The connections are the same.

    Do I need a separate amplifier?

    No. The active speaker has the amplification built in and drives the passive one through the 4-pin cable. Kanto warns not to connect the speaker terminals to the speaker outputs of a stereo amplifier.

    Can I add a subwoofer?

    Yes, with a single RCA cable from SUB OUT. The 80 Hz active crossover engages automatically when the cable is connected.

    What can I mount them on?

    ORA4 has 1/4-20 threaded inserts on the back and underneath. Kanto recommends the SP9, SE4 and S4 stands for it, sold separately.
