    General presentation QED Reference Optical Quartz Cable

    QED'S SUPERIOR TOSLINK OPTICAL DIGITAL AUDIO INTERCONNECT CABLE MADE WITH REAL GLASS
    Reference Optical Quartz is the first of its kind, consisting of 210 separate borosilicate glass fibers. The cable allows you to experience amazing sound when connecting DACs, TVs, CD players and Blu-Ray players to amplifiers or receivers because it has a much higher bandwidth and only 1/10 the attenuation of traditional acrylic fibers. The Reference Optical Quartz far exceeds the requirements for high-definition multichannel digital audio with a bandwidth of over 150MHz that is completely unaffected by cable bending.
    GLASSCORE TECHNOLOGY
    The new QED Glasscore™ technology uses multiple fiber bundles of ultra-fine borosilicate glass optical fibers (GOF) of no more than 50um each to make up the 1mm diameter required to conform to standard Toslink connectors. Because the fibers are so small, the different paths taken by the light rays are similar in length, virtually eliminating timing error and introducing less distortion and jitter. This has the effect of increasing the bandwidth and accuracy of data transmission.

    The quartz fibers are coated with a low refractive index coating to guide the light signal.

    OVER 150MHZ BANDWIDTH
    This far exceeds the requirements for high-definition multichannel HD digital audio. Unlike conventional acrylic glass optical cables, quartz glass cables can deliver signals up to 24/192 inclusive with very low jitter.
    Optical reference quartz can provide much more bandwidth than a single acrylic glass fiber with 1/10 the attenuation.

    ULTRA LOW JITTER / ULTRA LOW LOSS
    QED calculated that jitter (or distortions caused by the timing differences between different light paths in conventional optical cables) could typically reach up to 145ps. In Reference Optical Quartz, timing errors are virtually eliminated, introducing less distortion, jitter and ultra-low loss < 0.03 dB/m.
