The Tune Flex 2 belong to JBL's Tune range of true wireless earbuds. Each earbud has a 12 mm dynamic driver tuned for JBL Pure Bass Sound, and JBL Spatial Sound turns the stereo signal from any source or device into a more immersive presentation, whether you are listening to music, watching a film or gaming.

The earbuds use touch controls, and the free JBL Headphones app lets you change what each gesture does. JBL rates the earbuds IP54 against dust and water, so rain and wind are not a problem; the charging case is not covered by that rating.

Adaptive noise cancelling and Smart Ambient

Adaptive Noise Cancelling can shut out surrounding noise entirely or let in as much of the outside world as you choose. Ambient Aware sets how much of your surroundings you hear, while TalkThru lets you talk with people nearby without taking the earbuds out.

The noise cancelling level and the ambient sound settings are adjusted in the JBL Headphones app, which also offers Personi-Fi 3.0: a personal sound profile built from information about you and your listening preferences.

Six microphones and up to 48 hours

For calls, each earbud uses two beamforming outer microphones that pick up your voice and one inner microphone that isolates noise. Environmental noise cancellation and echo suppression algorithms keep the voice clear, even outdoors on a windy day.

With ANC on, the earbuds play for up to 8 hours and the case adds three more full charges (24 hours). With ANC off, the earbuds play for up to 12 hours and the case adds 36 hours, 48 hours in total. A full charge from empty takes 2 hours.

Two ear tip sound modes

Tune Flex 2 come with two kinds of ear tips. The open ear tips keep you aware of your surroundings while you wear the earbuds; the sealing tips, in three sizes, close off the ear canal and improve passive noise isolation.

The Ghost Edition versions have a transparent finish; JBL lists them with slightly different weights: 4.2 g per earbud and a 35.2 g charging case.

Frequently asked questions

Can I switch between Bluetooth devices?

Yes. The multi-point connection supports a maximum of 2 devices, according to JBL's quick start guide, and lets you switch from one Bluetooth device to another, for example from a video on a tablet to a call on your phone.

Are they waterproof?

The earbuds are rated IP54, protected against dust and water splashes, so rain and wind are fine. JBL states that the rating applies to the earbuds only, not to the charging case.

How long does the battery last?

Up to 8 hours per charge with ANC on and up to 12 hours with ANC off. The case adds up to 24 hours (ANC on) or 36 hours (ANC off). Charging from empty takes 2 hours.

What can I adjust in the app?

In the JBL Headphones app you can set the noise cancelling level and ambient sound, create a personal sound profile with Personi-Fi 3.0, customise touch gestures, check the fit and find your earbuds.
