Five sizes. One processor. No nasty surprise on the small one.

From 42 to 77 inches, the C62LA keeps the same 4K OLED panel, the same alpha 11 AI Gen3 and the same 120 Hz native refresh rate. What actually changes between sizes, we spell out here.

Source: LG — lg.com. LG publishes no video dedicated to the C6 range; the discreet motion above is built from an official photograph of the 77-inch model.

In shortSame processor on every size120 Hz native, VRR up to 165 HzBrightness Booster Pro on 77" only*

Read this first, because it is the only real decision on this television: you are choosing a size, not a performance class. The C62LA is the 2026 C6 series, LG's mid-range OLED line, and it comes in five sizes — 42, 48, 55, 65 and 77 inches. There is no 83-inch version in this series, even though you will find that number in LG's own footnotes: it belongs to a neighbouring range.

What matters is how little changes between sizes. All five use the same 4K OLED panel, the same alpha 11 AI 4K Gen3 processor with Dual AI Engine, the same 120 Hz native refresh rate with VRR up to 165 Hz, the same four full-featured HDMI ports, the same webOS 26 and the same VESA mount. In some OLED ranges the small model gets an older processor. Not here.

Three things do change, and we list all three. The first is brightness: the 77-inch model has Brightness Booster Pro* and Hyper Radiant Color Tech*; the 65, 55 and 48-inch models have Brightness Booster; for the 42-inch, LG lists no such feature at all. The second is sound: 40 W across 2.2 channels everywhere except the 42-inch, which has 20 W across 2.0. The third is dimensions, weight and the stand — and the 42-inch stands on two wide-set feet rather than the central pedestal used by the others.

Choose the size for the room, not out of fear

In practice the size follows your viewing distance and the wall you have. 77 inches means 1711 mm wide and 23.5 kg without the stand — it needs a prepared wall and a room to match. 65 (1441 mm) and 55 inches (1222 mm) are the usual living-room choices. 48 and 42 inches (1071 and 932 mm) are bedroom, office or gaming-monitor sizes.

All five use VESA 300 x 200 mm, so a bracket meeting that standard fits any of them; what still needs checking is the weight, not the hole pattern.

Real black, and brightness that depends on the size

An OLED panel has no backlight: each of the 8.3 million pixels makes its own light and can switch off completely. That is where the black comes from, verified by UL as Perfect Black, alongside Perfect Color verified by Intertek for 100% colour fidelity. The supported formats are Dolby Vision, HDR10 and HLG.

This is where the only real hierarchy in the range appears, and it is worth saying what the 3.2x* figure is. It is a relative value, measured by LG on a 3% window against conventional OLED televisions, through internal measurements. It is not an absolute figure in nits — LG publishes none for this model, so neither do we. In practice the difference shows in a bright room, on HDR content with small, brilliant highlights; in a dark room, where OLED already excels, it matters far less.

The processor stays the same across all five: alpha 11 AI 4K Gen3 with Dual AI Engine, with AI Picture Pro, AI Super Upscaling 4K, Dynamic Tone Mapping Ultra and AI HDR Remastering, which lifts SDR material towards HDR levels.

    Gaming: read the number correctly

You will see "165 Hz" on many specification lists. The exact wording, as LG writes it in each model's own table, is 120 Hz native, with VRR up to 165 Hz. The panel refreshes natively at 120 Hz; the 165 Hz is the ceiling of the variable refresh rate, available on a PC or game input that actually supports that frequency. It is real, useful headroom, but it is not a 165 Hz panel, and we do not present it as one.

The rest of the package is identical on all five sizes: NVIDIA G-SYNC compatibility, AMD FreeSync Premium, ALLM, HGiG, Game Dashboard, Game Optimizer, and Dolby Vision game mode at 4K 120 Hz.

Pixel response time is under 0.1 ms, Gray to Gray, certified by Intertek. That is a pixel measurement, not input lag — two different things that many spec sheets confuse. All four HDMI ports carry 4K at 120 Hz, with eARC, VRR, ALLM, QMS and QFT, so you do not have to hunt for "the good port".

Sound, webOS and the five years

The built-in audio system is 40 W across 2.2 channels on the 48, 55, 65 and 77-inch sizes, with Dolby Atmos and AI Sound Pro building a virtual 11.1.2 field. If sound matters to you, a soundbar is the honest recommendation on any slim television anyway; on compatible LG models, WOW Orchestra makes the TV and the bar play together rather than in turns.

The software is webOS 26, with the AI Magic Remote in the box and a dedicated button that opens AI Hub. The part worth underlining is webOS Re:New: LG states five years of free updates for this model. On a television you keep for eight or ten years, that is the difference between a set that keeps getting new apps and one frozen in the year you bought it.

Connectivity is complete: Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.3, Ethernet, two USB 2.0 ports, a CI slot, optical output and a DVB-T2, DVB-C and DVB-S2 tuner, plus Apple AirPlay, Apple Home, Google Cast, Google Home and LG ThinQ.

LG OLED evo AI C62LA, front view with the screen off
LG OLED evo AI C62LA 42-inch, front view, standing on two wide-set feet

LG offers the C62LA in a single finish, black, across every size — there are no colour options. The photographs are official LG material. Look at the stand in the last image: at 42 inches it is two wide-set feet, not the central pedestal of the others — which matters if the television is going on a narrow cabinet.

The five sizes, side by side

The table below contains only the values that differ between sizes. Everything else — processor, panel, resolution, refresh rate, HDR formats, the gaming package, the ports, webOS and the VESA mount — is identical across all five.

The figures come from the official LG pages, and the energy data from each model's EU energy label. The energy class does not follow screen size: the 48-inch draws 51 kWh/1000 h in SDR, less than the 42-inch (52 kWh) despite the larger screen. The HDR class is G on all five.

    Frequently asked questions

If I take a smaller size, do I get a weaker television?

Not at the engine level. All five sizes have the same processor, the same panel, the same 120 Hz native refresh rate with VRR up to 165 Hz, the same HDR formats, the same gaming package, the same four HDMI ports and the same webOS 26. Only brightness*, the sound on the 42-inch (20 W / 2.0 instead of 40 W / 2.2), that size's stand and the dimensions differ.

Is it 165 Hz or 120 Hz?

Both numbers are real, but they mean different things. The panel is 120 Hz native. The variable refresh rate (VRR) climbs up to 165 Hz on a compatible source — in practice a PC or a game that genuinely supports that frequency. LG writes exactly that in the specification table: "120Hz Native (VRR 165Hz)". A shop that simply lists "165 Hz" lets you believe the panel is natively 165 Hz; it is not.

What exactly is "up to 3.2 times brighter", and which size does it apply to?

It applies only to the 77-inch model, the only one with Brightness Booster Pro. It is a relative value, measured by LG on a 3% window against conventional OLED televisions, not an absolute brightness in nits. The 65, 55 and 48-inch models have plain Brightness Booster, and for the 42-inch LG lists no feature of this kind.

    Is there an 83-inch version?

Not in this series. The C62LA is sold in five sizes: 42, 48, 55, 65 and 77 inches. You will come across the number 83 in LG's brightness footnotes, because those notes cover several ranges at once; a product page for an 83-inch C62LA does not exist. If you need something larger than 77 inches, ask us and we will tell you which series has it.

How many years of updates does it get?

LG states five years of free updates through the webOS Re:New programme. LG notes that the programme is available only on certain models and that the number of updates and the length of support can vary by product, model or region.

Is the built-in sound enough, or do I need a soundbar?

For television and series, the 40 W across 2.2 channels with Dolby Atmos does an honest job. For films and for bass, any slim television has physical limits that a soundbar solves — all the more on the 42-inch, which has 20 W across 2.0 channels.

A few terms, in plain language

OLED — A screen in which each pixel makes its own light and can switch off completely. That is why black is black rather than grey lit from behind, and why contrast does not depend on dimming zones.
VRR — Variable Refresh Rate. The television changes its rhythm to follow exactly how many frames the console or graphics card sends, which removes image tearing. Here the ceiling is 165 Hz.
Pixel response time — How long a pixel takes to move from one shade of grey to another, here under 0.1 ms. It is not the same as input lag, which measures the delay between pressing the button and the image on screen.
Brightness Booster / Booster Pro — LG's brightness-raising algorithms, which redistribute energy towards the bright areas of the image. The Pro variant, with the processor's Light Control architecture, is the one that delivers the peak of up to 3.2x* and exists, in this range, only on the 77-inch model.

The values come from the official LG pages, and the energy data from each model's EU energy label. You will not find brightness in nits or a contrast ratio here: on OLED, contrast is not a meaningful number, and absolute brightness is not published by LG. Nor is a warranty term given on these pages.

    * Brightness Booster Pro, the peak brightness of up to 3.2x and Hyper Radiant Color Tech are available only on the 77-inch model. The 65, 55 and 48-inch models use Brightness Booster, and for the 42-inch model LG lists no feature of this kind. All five sizes nevertheless keep the same OLED evo 4K panel, the same alpha 11 AI 4K Gen3 processor with Dual AI Engine, the same 120 Hz native refresh rate with VRR up to 165 Hz, the same HDR formats and the same webOS 26. The 3.2x figure is a relative value, measured by LG on a 3% window against conventional OLED televisions, through internal measurements; LG does not publish an absolute brightness in nits.
