      The JBL Bar 500MK2 is a 5.1 system made up of a slim bar and a 10″ (260 mm) wireless subwoofer. The bar holds five 42 × 80 mm racetrack drivers and four 20 mm tweeters, while the subwoofer adds the bass for films, games and music. Dolby Atmos and DTS Virtual:X bring 3D surround effects, MultiBeam 3.0 widens the soundstage and PureVoice 2.0 keeps dialogue clear. It connects to any brand of TV through HDMI eARC or optical and plays music over Wi-Fi from hundreds of streaming services.

      Two components, one system

      Five racetrack drivers and four tweeters work inside the bar, with 450 W max output (THD 1%). The subwoofer, with a 260 mm driver, receives its signal wirelessly and adds 300 W (THD 1%), for a total of 750 W max and 375 W RMS (THD 1%). The system's frequency response reaches down to 40 Hz (−6 dB).

      3D surround and clear dialogue

      MultiBeam 3.0 sends sound beams into the room for a wide soundstage, while Dolby Atmos and DTS Virtual:X add 3D surround effects. Calibration uses the bar's microphone to measure how sound reflects around the room. PureVoice 2.0 automatically raises or optimises dialogue according to the scene's ambient sound and the volume, and SmartDetails keeps the detail of the mix.

      TV connection and streaming

      HDMI eARC carries uncompressed Dolby Atmos from the TV over a single cable, and the HDMI input passes 4K video with Dolby Vision and HDR10+ from a console or player. Over Wi-Fi, the system plays from AirPlay, Google Cast, Spotify Connect, Tidal Connect and Roon Ready; the JBL ONE app handles setup, offers an equaliser and delivers software updates.

      Is the subwoofer included?

      Yes. The Bar 500MK2 is a 5.1 system: the box holds the bar and the 10″ (260 mm) wireless subwoofer, which links to the bar without a signal cable and takes its own mains power.

      Will it work with my TV?

      JBL states that it works with every brand of TV. It connects through HDMI eARC or the optical input.

      Can I listen to music without the TV?

      Yes, over Wi-Fi (AirPlay, Google Cast, Spotify Connect, Tidal Connect, Roon Ready) or Bluetooth 5.3. Some services require subscriptions that are not available in every country.

      Can the bar be wall-mounted?

      Yes: the box includes two L-shaped wall brackets for the bar and a mounting template.
