      Deeper foundation, in a compact cabinet

      SUB8 is a sealed powered subwoofer with an 8-inch paper cone woofer and a Class D amplifier of 150 W total RMS, built in a rigid MDF cabinet with rubber feet and a metal grille.

      SUB8 adds low-frequency depth to a stereo pair or a home theater system. Its 8-inch paper cone works in a sealed enclosure, which Kanto chose for a quick, controlled response that keeps bass notes distinct.

      The Class D amplifier is rated at 150 W total RMS and Kanto gives the response as 35 Hz to 175 Hz. The cabinet is rigid MDF, with rubber feet and a metal grille protecting the driver.

      The sealed cabinet gives a controlled response that keeps bass notes distinct and rhythms clear. The rigid MDF construction, rubber feet and metal grille make a sturdy home for the driver, in a cabinet of 28 x 28 cm.

      Controls for blending with your speakers

      The low-pass filter sets the highest frequency the subwoofer plays, adjustable from 40 Hz to 120 Hz, so it hands over to your main speakers where they start to roll off. The phase switch (0° or 180°) helps when the subwoofer sits farther away than the speakers: Kanto recommends listening in both positions and keeping the fuller one.

      Frequently asked questions

      Can I connect it to Kanto powered speakers?

      Yes. The Kanto manual gives YU, YU2, YU4 and YU6 as examples of powered speakers with a subwoofer output that can feed Sub8.

      My amplifier has only one RCA subwoofer output. Is that enough?

      Yes. A single cable can go to either the left or the right line-level input. If your device has both left and right subwoofer or preamp outputs, Kanto recommends using both.

      Where should I place it?

      Kanto recommends placing it between the left and right speakers or near one of them. Moving it very close to walls adds bass but tends to make the sound less clear.

      Does it stay on all the time?

      No, unless you want it to. The auto-standby can be switched on or off from the rear panel, and standby consumption is below 0.5 W.
